Colorful & Ethereal Engagement Session with the Pup

Guys, this engagement session was so much fun! Anne and Bowen wanted to bring their dog Archie to the session, but as is often the case, they worried about it being too much for her. And we knew we wanted to head to the beach for the second half of the session. I’m all about including the dog if at all possible, but it’s great to know your pup’s habits and preferences. For example, some dogs (ahem, bulldogs) get a mite nutso around bodies of water, and this can be true for many dogs. In this case, it was more about needing a quieter space for her in order to avoid too many distractions that might stress her out, so we opted to invite beautiful Archie just for the first part of the session, at this glorious secret spot I found last year (not telling!) And look how adorable she was! That ear! Something only mutts get, I’m telling you. I’m so glad she came!

Then, after dropping Archie with her sitter, we headed to the beach where the dog-parents could be free and run wild on their own! This was a weird weather day - I remember driving through the fog and clouds to get to this spot on the beach, and watching those clouds circle around us, constantly threatening our pretty golden hour. But it actually made for a really unique, ethereal look, and blurred background people out more (so I wouldn’t have to ‘shop them out, thank you very much.)

But my favorite part about this session was the magic that is Anne & Bowen. I directed them into a few fun spins and tackles, sure, but these two really just make each other laugh. And to my extreme happiness, when they were near the water, this row of seagulls flew overhead, and I bellowed “pick her up!” and Bowen quickly took my cue and scooped Anne up - amazing!

Can their wedding day get here faster please??
