An 18th Century Inspired Autumn Editorial Shoot

Fall is a time for whimsy! It’s a time for moody vibes, for introspection, and for the kind of romance that you think of when it’s raining outside and cozy inside. This session is the result of my imagination, a rented dress, and a trip to the thrift store.

My beautiful model was so amazing at taking my ideas and running with them. Going with the 18th-century vibe inspired by the dress, she kept her makeup minimal, and was able to coif her full, long curls into this amazing ‘do with serious Elizabeth Swan vibes! During prep I also remembered I had purchased a very fitting parasol from a Renaissance Faire last year, which completed the (obviously not completely historically accurate) look.

I kept the details pretty minimal, including a few shots with a bouquet of my own creation but mostly leaving the decorating to the natural foliage. The tiny table was made by my grandfather, many years ago, and made the perfect single setting for a couple sweet glasses of champagne, candles and fall flora. I couldn’t help myself with the tiny creepy birdcage. And I’m not sure if it’s the smallness of it or the fallness, but it may be my favorite tablescape I’ve ever shot!

P.S. the candles’ flames were added in post - don’t call Smokey the Bear on me!

Thank you for joining me for this little fanciful photo session.
